Rowan Co. birth records, on LDS microfilm #216839, list Elias P. Jones, b. 28 May 1857, to I. N. Jones & Jane McDenel, place of birth Craney.

His gravestone is inscribed Elias P. Jones, May 27, 1857 - Feb 8, 1938, but I cannot find him in the Kentucky death records.

Her gravestone says “Nancy Elizabeth Jones, wife of Elias P. Jones, Dec 21, 1866 - Dec 9, 1935, Mother”

I cannot find her in the Kentucky death records. Most likely both she and Elias died in another state, and were returned to Rowan Co. for burial.

In 1880 he was listed as a hired hand, age 22, with the family of John Crum and his sister Martha, see their notes.

Jones, Elias, 51, farmer; Nancy E., 42; married 27 years, 9 children, 8 living; Henry C., 24, son; Artancy, 22, dau; Jesse W., 18, son; John E., 16, son; Eli S., 14, son; Mollie F., 11, dau; Monnie L., 7, dau; Jane, 82, mother, widowed, mother of 18 children, 12 living. Jane's mother born in Virginia, all others in Kentucky.

1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Hogtown precinct, enumerated 27 Jan, lists on p. 14B as family #265/268:
Jones, E. P., 57, farmer; Nancy, wife, 53; Monnie, dau, 16; Rosa, dau, 9. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Hogtown precinct, enumerated 23 April, lists on p. 13A as family #227/239:
Jones, Elisa (male), 72, age at first marriage 25, farmer; Nancie, wife, 62, age at first marriage 16; Ray, grandson, 10; Talmage, grandson, 6. All born Ky Ky Ky.

Ray and Talmage are sons of Henry Cleve Jones and Virgie Wagoner. Cleve was still living, but their mother died in 1924.
