Notes for Carter C. Jones
I have seen his name as “Capt. William Carter Jones” on published genealogies, but both the marriage record and the censuses say Carter C. Jones.

1850 census of Floyd Co., Virginia, western district 15, enumerated 29 Aug, lists as family #814:
Carter Jones, 30, farmer; Eva, 27; Henry C., 6; James B., 4; Cealy Ann, 2. All born in Virginia.
Also listed on the same page are households headed by Eva’s brother Allen Slusher, and my GGG grandparents Joseph and Nancy (Wade) Slusher. (Joseph is Eva’s first cousin.)
1860 census of Floyd County, Virginia, Greasy Creek precinct, enumerated Aug 13-14, lists on p. 158 as family #1139/1062:
Carter C. Jones, 39, farmer; Eva, 40, wife; Henry C., 16; Jas B., 14; Celia A., 12; Wiliam T., 9; Rena R., 7; Tazewell P., 4. All born in Virginia.
1870 census of Floyd Co., Virginia, Indian Valley & Burks Fork townships, enumerated 1 Sep, lists on p. 41 as family #281/265:
Jones, Carter C., 52; Eva, 50; Tazewell, 14; Slusher, Zack Taylor, 22; Rosabell, 17; Almeda 5/13. All born in Virginia.
(Rosabell is Rena R from the 1860 census. Zachary Taylor Slusher was the son of John B. Slusher who died in 1849. His mother Elizabeth Weddle Slusher and two of his siblings are three households later at #284/268.)
