Do not confuse with Isaac Roberts born about 1851 in Morgan Co., Ky, son of Hiram Roberts and Jane Flannery.

His name is listed as Isaac on the 1860 census as a child, but as Isaih on the 1880 census. On the marriage record of his son Thomas to Mamie Hall, his name is abbreviated as “Za.”

According to Noreta (Collins) Wells the correct name is Isiah, which is how her great-grandmother Sarah E. (Hall) Roberts spelled it in the family bible. I’ve used the biblical spelling Isaiah, since that is probably what was intended. Most of the information on descendants of Isaiah and Sarah is from correspondence with Noreta. Her line is Isaiah to Mammie Florence to Edith (Ellington) to Noreta.

Her death certificate records Sarah Ellen Humphries, age 82 years 5 months 13 days, born 6 July 1861 in Rowan Co., Ky, died 19 Dec 1943 at 583 Wyoming St., Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, residence same, length of residence in community 1 year 8 months, widow of Robert Humphries, father William Hall, mother’s maiden name Lydia Barber, both born in Ky, cause of death myo-carditis with cardiac decompensation, informant Earl Elworth, 583 Wyoming St., burial in Woodland Cem.

1880 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pine Grove precinct, lists as family #218:
Isaih Roberts, 26, farmer, Va Va Va; Sarah E., 18, wife, Ky Ky Ky; Ivy J., 8/12, dau, Ky Ky Ky. (Should be Ky Va Ky.)

1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, lists as family #174:
