His WW II draft registration card, filed April 1942, records Elmer Elwood Roberts, age 54, born 26 Oct 1887 in Morehead, Ky, residence 536 North Clark St., Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, employer Sam Mantone, 542 N. Clark St., Chicago, Ill, contact Mrs. Iva E. Ellington, 2356 Koehler Ave, Dayton, Ohio.
He was probably really born in 1886, though, as recorded in the 1900 census. If he was born in late October 1887, it would only be six months before the birth of his brother Curtis on 8 May 1888, and Curtis’s dates agree between the census and his draft registration, so it is not likely to be a case of Curtis’s birthdate being later than 1888.
