In her father’s will dated May 1931 she is listed as Addie Cornett Cox of Matoka, W.Va.; in her mother’s obituary in Sept 1959, she is mentioned as a survivor, “Mrs. Addie Cox, Bluefield, W. Va.” (Matoaka is about 12 miles north of Bluefield; both are in Mercer Co.)

In the 1930 census of Matoaka, Mercer Co., West Virginia, enumerated 11 April, she is living alone, listed as head of household, but her marital status is shown as married, not widowed or divorced:
Cox, Ada, 39, age at first marriage 22, born and both parents born in Kentucky.

1920 census of Slab Fork district, East Gulf precinct, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, enumerated 14 Jan, lists on p. 10A as family #188/196:
Cox, Thomas, 32, electrician in coal mine, b. WVa WVa WVa; Addie, wife, 30, b. Ky Ky Ky; Clyde, son, 11, b. WVa Ky Ky.

The preceding household is Addie’s sister Martha with her husband Joe Murdock.
