His death certificate records Lon M. Davis, age 56, born 28 Dec 1889 in Elliott Co., Ky, died 20 May 1946 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky, usual residence Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, married, husband of Emma Davis, father Henry Davis, mother’s maiden name Carrilda Davis, both born in Elliott Co., Ky, cause of death poisoining, formaldehyde, accidental, informant Emma Davis, Morehead, Ky, burial in Lee Cemetery.

The 1900 census, though, listed him as age 11, born Dec 1888, with a younger sister Alice born Nov 1889. If he was really born in 1889, then Alice must have really been born in 1890.

The SSDI lists Emma Davis, born 8 Feb 1893, died Apr 1983, last residence Findlay, Hancock Co., Ohio, SSN issued in Kentucky in 1971.

The Ohio death index lists Emma A. Davis, age 90, born 1893 in Kentucky, died 19 Apr 1983 at long-term care facilities in Findlay, Hancock Co., Ohio, widowed.

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 7, p. 99, records the marriage on 4 Feb 1910 of Lonie Davis, age 21, son of Henry & Carrilda Davis, to Emily Alice Jones, age 16, daughter of Wm & Sarah Jones, at Henry Kissinger’s by C. M. Humphrey, witnesses Jack Wilson and Henry Kissinger.

The 1927 and 1929 City Directories of Muncie, Indiana list Lon M. Davis, barber, with wife Emma, living at 2119 S. High Street.

1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 19 April, lists on p. 3A as family #36:
Holland, Boone, 27, fireman at spoke mill; Martha, wife, 22, first marriage for both, married 7 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Alice, dau, 6; William E., son, 3; Davis, Lonnie, brother-in-law, 21, laborer at mill, Emma, dau-in-law, 17, first marriage for both, married 0 years.

Emma is not, of course, Boone’s daughter in law. She is Martha’s sister, so Emma is Boone’s sister-in-law.

1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct 7, enumerated 24 Jan, lists on p. 10A as family #62/63:
Davis, Lon M., 31, laborer; Emma, wife, 26; Delbert, son, 5 7/12; Jeneva, dau, 2 11/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.

I cannot find this family in the 1930 census. They may have been in the process of moving from Muncie to Morehead and been missed by the census.

1940 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead, ED 103-3, enumerated 17 April, lists on p. 10B as family #175:
Davis, Lon, 51, laborer at barber shop; Emma, wife, 47; Josephine, dau, 15; Bertha, dau, 13; Lela, dau, 11; Jaunita, dau, 10; Junior, son, 6; Lorine (or Lornie), dau, 4. Josephine through Lela born in Indiana, all others born in Kentucky, family living in rural Rowan Co in 1935.

The next family is headed by Grover Cleveland White, and the one after that by Ethel Davis, widow of Lon’s brother Dewie.
