Fleming Co., Ky marriage book M, p. 252, records the marriage on 28 Feb 1901 of Robert F. Petitt, age 23, father born in Fleming Co., mother born in Ohio, to Irena Moore, age 23, both parents born in Fleming Co., first marriage for both, both born in and residents of Fleming Co., to be married at Paterson Moore’s, who was also surety on the marriage bond.
According to their granddaughter Barbara, Robert and Rena moved to Indiana so that their children could get a better education.

This Robert is almost certainly the son of Andrew J. Pettit, since Andrew's daughter Annie married Clark Crouch, 22 May 1877 in Bath Co., but the birthdate is quite a bit different than that implied by the 1880 Soundex, where he was listed as 9, and the 1910 census, which lists him as 37. However, Andrew's family was apparently poor at keeping track of ages (e.g., Andrew's wife Mary is listed as 31 in 1870 and 38 in 1880), and the 1880 Soundex may have mistranscribed a 7 as a 9.
1910 census of Fleming Co., district 5, enumerated 21 April, lists on p. 5B as family #88/89:
Robert F. Pettit, 37, farmer, b. Ky Ohio Ky; Rena J., wife, 32, first marriage for both, married 9 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Mary E, dau, 8; Marvin A, son, 5. All except Robert born Ky Ky Ky.
The preceding household is headed by a Sarah L. Pettit, listed as age 36, with her birthplace section also Ky Ohio Ky.
