Barbara is a daughter of Andrew's grandson Marvin, son of Robert. She says that her father thought Andrew J. had a sister Mary, and brothers George, Willis, and Levi.

Andrew is probably a grandson of Amos Pettit and Milly Glen of Pendleton Co., since they are the progenitors of all the known Pettits of the Pendleton Co. area. (Lenoxburg is right on the Pendleton/Bracken Co. border, and he appears in the 1870 Pendleton Co. census.) The best possibility is Amos's son George, who married Permelia Porter in 1815 in Pendleton Co. George is not in the 1820 or later censuses of Pendleton Co., so he apparently moved elsewhere, perhaps to Bracken Co. or Ohio. George's family is not known (by me or Steve Navaro, at least), and Andrew had a son George, and according to his grandson Marvin, a brother George. He might be a son of a second wife, though, since he was born 21 years after George and Permelia married.

Barbara Houck had Mary’s middle name as “Livid (?)” from the marriage record in Clermont Co., which is a likely misreading of Livia, but the death certificate of her daughter Anna Belle, for which the informant was Anna’s son Dewitt C. Crouch, has Anna’s mother’s maiden name as Mary Louise McGill.

1860 census of Bracken Co., Ky, lists:

1870 census of Pendleton Co., Ky, Catawba P.O., p. 428, family #114:
Pettit, Andrew J., 36; Mary L., 31; Annie B., 12; Sallie E., 9; George, 7; Samuel, 5; Nancy M., 2. Andrew b. in Ohio, others in Ky. (Although the 1880 census gives Ky for Andrew too.)

1880 census of Fleming Co., Ky, Hillsboro, (sheet 24, line 35):
Pettit, Andrew J., 45; Mary L., 38; Sarah E., 19; George, 15; Nannie, 12; Robert, 9; Edgar, 4. All born in Ky.

(There is considerable disagreement between the ages in this census and the 1870 one, so I am listing most birthdates on this family as a range.)
