Notes for Wells Cottle Jones
From Elaine Winkler:
42 "Wells C. Jones and Marinda "Emma" Pigman were married in Rowan Co., KY, but records were lost in courthouse fires. They lived for a time in Carter Co., KY, and are listed in the 1880 census of that county. They were living in Farmers, KY, in 1887, during the final battle of the Martin-Tolliver Feud. Wells and Emma moved to Wayne Co., WV, sometime before 1892 when he got a job with the railroad. While living in Rowan Co., Wells is listed as a member of the First Baptist Church in Morehead. Wells was named in his father's will and was given part of the family farm but never lived on it. Wells' brother Hezekiah was shot and killed by a son of the Widow Cornett and Wells seemed to want out of the area since there was "bad blood" between the two families."
