(The area where William & Barbary lived became part of Rowan County only one month after William Jr. was born.)

His death certificate states William Allen Jones, age 85 years 10 months 9 days, born 5 May 1856 in Kentucky, died 14 May 1942 in Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, usual residence Salt Lick, Bath Co., Ky, occupation farming, married, husband of Ida Mae Jones age 75, father William Jones, mother’s maiden name Barbara Myers, both born in Ky, cause of death chronic myocarditis, informant Jesse Jones, Salt Lick, Ky, burial in Brown Cemetery.

1880 census of Rowan Co., Pearce Prec. (#3), lists in the home of R. B. & Sarah Alfrey, family #240, William Jones, age 24, laborer. (Sarah is William's sister.)

Her death certificate states Ida Mae Jones, age 86, housewife, widowed, born 21 Oct 1867 in Indiana, died 3 Dec 1953 in Eastern State Hospital, Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky, usual residence 145 Edgemoor Drive, Lexington, father Edward B. Maxwell, mother’s maiden name Nancy Croucher, cause of death cerebral arteriosclerosis, informant hospital records, burial in Brown Cemetery, Morehead, Ky.

Barry Co. Missouri marriage records, as transcribed in the USGenWeb archives, list the marriage of Wm A. Jones and Ida Maxwell on 23 Dec 1886. (No other details recorded.)

Judging by census records, William and Ida moved to Bath Co., Ky about 1899.

There was a gossip item in the Sept 19, 1929 issue of the Rowan County News35 about what sounds like a family reunion, although it isn’t so named: “Midland news - Miss Zilla Jones has returned home from a visit with her sister, Mrs. Chester Howell at Cincinnati O; The Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs W. A. Jones were Mr. and Mrs. Chester Howell of Cin, O, Mrs. A. J. Mynhier of Shelby O, Mr Cleo Jones of New Castle Ind, Mr and Mrs Belenas Hamm of Ashland Ky, Mr and Mrs Aqua Johnson and children, Jesse Jones and children and Mr and Mrs Bill Jones of Zilpo Ky, Mr and Mrs Harry Mullins, Mrs Meadows and Rev Henry Hall all of Clearfield, Mr and Mrs Willie Pettit and Mr and Mrs Emery Collins of Salt Lick, Mr and Mrs J. R. Click and Mr and Mrs Roy D Jones of this place; Mr and Mrs J. R. Lance and dau Alice and Mr Carl Jones of Barberton Oh, arrived here Sunday night to spend the week with friends and relatives; Miss Eula Jones is attending school at the Morehead State Normal; Mr Leonard Jones of Ashland Ky was calling on relatives here Monday.”

(Leonard Jones is the son of William A. Jones’ brother, Greenberry. I don’t know where Eula fits in.)

1900 census of Bath Co., Ky, White Sulphur district, enumerated 11 June, lists on p. 10B as family #204:
Jones, William A., 44, farmer, b. May 1856, Ky Ky Ky; Ida M., wife, 32, b. Oct 1867, Ind Ind Ind, married 12 years, mother of 6 children, 6 living; Cleo, son, 12 slashed overwritten with 11, b. Aug 1888; Cordelia, dau, 11, b. Apr 1889; Roy, son, 8, b. Jany 1892; Jessie, son, 6, b. May 1894; Ava, dau, 2, b. Jany 1898; Allen, son, 2/12, b. March 1900, Ky. All children except Allen born in Missouri.

Since there are only 8 months between Aug 1888 and April 1889, it is probable that either Cleo’s year of birth should be 1887, or Cordelia’s should be 1890.
