Notes for John A. Pettit
According to Daryl Duncan, John and his family lived in Greenup County near the head of a hollow called Big White Oak. Supposedly they moved there to work in the manufacturing of pig iron.

They moved from Kentucky to Hocking Co., Ohio sometime between 1891 and 1900.

His death certificate records John Petitt, age 73 years 0 months 3 days, born 9 Oct 1950 in Ky, died 12 Oct 1923 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, usual residence Nelsonville, Ohio, widowed, occupation miner, father Samuel Petitt, mother’s maiden name Rebecca Foster, both born in Ky, cause of death carcinoma of stomach, informant Sister Superior, St. Anthony’s Hospital, burial in Nelsonville, Ohio.
