His gravestone gives his birthdate as Aug 1900, but the date from the draft registration is very likely correct, since he was recorded as age 3 born Aug 1896 in the 1900 census. Whoever ordered the gravestones seems to have thought that both Robert and Bessie were about three or four years younger than their real ages.
