In the 1900 census, Jesse is living as a boarder with the family of William John Jones and Mary Lou Hall. Jesse’s mother Emily Ellen Jones is an aunt of William’s father James Boyd Jones.

Her father’s 1947 obituary listed her as a surviving daughter Della Foster of Clearfield.

Rowan Co. marriage book 6, p. 493, records marriage on 24 Dec 1908 of Jesse Foster, 29, b. Morgan Co., s/o Milt & Ellen Foster, to Della Smedley, 20, residence Paragon, d/o D. B. & Eliza Smedley, at D. B. Smedley's by J. H. Hall, witnesses D. B. Smedley & J. C. Pelfrey.

Although the marriage record says that Jesse was born in Morgan County, it may be incorrect, since his parents were in the Rowan County census in both 1870 and 1880, in the same location judging by neighbors.

1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pearcy precinct, enumerated 20 April, lists on p. 3A as family # 28/31:
Foster, Jesse, 31, railroad construction; Della, wife, 22, first marriage for both, married 1 year, mother of 1 child, 1 living; Roy, son, 7/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.
