Notes for Matilda Brown
The birth record of her daughter Evaline gives the mother's maiden name as Martha Cassity, but the marriage record as well as the 1860 through 1880 censuses all list it as Matilda. Maybe she was called Mattie?
I do not know how to explain the Cassity. It is unlikely that she was already the widow of a different Brown when she married John Fisher Brown at age 16, because the death certificates of her daughters Evaline and Nancy both listed their mother’s maiden name as Brown.
Notes for John Fisher & Matilda (Family)
Morgan Co. marriage register lists marriage of John F. Brown and Mathilda Brown on 25 June 1855.
