His WWI draft registration card, issued in 1917/1918 (the images on Ancestry do not show the side of the card that has the date it was filed), says John Miligin Black, age 22, residence Ramey, Ky, born 26 Sep 1894, occupation farmer, self-employed, married, supporting wife and one child.

Black, John M., 36, age at first marriage 19, farming; Rilda, wife, 35, age at first marriage 19; Nina M., dau, 11; Anna Lee, dau, 9; Robert J., son, 6; James M., son, 3 11/12; Elsie (illegible middle name), dau, 1 5/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.
The middle names for Anna and Elsie have been crossed out (since only initials were supposed to be recorded), and are therefore hard to read. Ancestry has transcribed Elsie’s middle name as Lavon, but it looks more like Lerna to me. Since the birth index gives her middle initial as F, it may be Fern.
