Be careful not to confuse him with his first cousin Harvey Kegley son of James Henry Kegley and Chloe Susan Cox, who was two years younger, and married Tabitha Dickerson.

His WWI Draft Registration card records Harvey Kegley, age 26, residence Wagner, Ky, born 14 Feb 1892 in Ky, occupation farmer, self-employed, married, supporting a wife.

His gravestone in Kegley-Nickell Cemetery instead has his birthdate as 14 Jan 1891. The 1900 census said Feb 1893.

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 9, p. 247, records license issued on 6 Oct 1916 for Harvey Kegley, age 24, farmer, son of John & Mary Kegley, to Thursey May Nickell, age 17, daughter of Jackson & Nancy J. Nickell, both single, both born in and residents of Rowan Co., Ky. (This book does not include the ministers’ returns. The date of 7 Oct 1916 is from Dewie Black’s family files.)

1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Hogtown precinct, enumerated 19 Jan, lists on p. 10B as family #187/190:
Kegley, Harve, 27, farmer; Thursey, wife, 19; Oddie, dau, 2. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Haldeman precinct, enumerated 25 April, lists on p. 14A as family #243:
Kegley, Harve, 38, age at first marriage 25, wheeler in brick yard; Thursday, wife, 29, age at first marriage 16; Ottie, dau, 12; Chester, son, 10; Thurman, son, 8; Leda, dau, 6 9/12; Vernon, son, 4 9/12; Ethel, dau, 2 10/12; Oscar, son, 1. All born Ky Ky Ky.
