Census Notes for Silas Easterling
1850 census of Morgan Co., KY, page 112, lists family #1025:
Silas Easterling, 27, b. Ky; Rebecca, 27, b. Va; Louisa, 7; Henry, 6; Rebecca, 4; William, 1; Thomas Easterling, 23. All the children have ditto marks, suggesting they were born in Virginia. (Thomas is the son of Thomas & Joannah, making him a first cousin of Silas. He is not Silas’s brother Thomas, who was only 14 in 1850 and still living with his parents.)
1860 census of Scott Co., Virginia, Estillville P.O., enumerated 7 Sep, lists on p. 204 as family #1326:
Silas Easterling, 35, b. Ky; Louisa J., 18, b. Va; Henry S., 16, b. Va; Martha D., 15, b. Va; William M., 11, b. Va.
Notes for Rebecca Elam
Some family trees on Ancestry.com show her date of death as 19 Oct 1852 in Scott Co, Viriginia, but they show the same date and place of death for her mother, so almost certainly one of those is an error. (I am not even totally convinced that the attribution of Silas’s wife as William Elam’s daughter is correct. Not that I have any specific reason to doubt it, just that it is unsourced.)
