Notes for John William (”John B.”) Gregory
This John Gregory was raised by John Jameson Gregory and Catherine Harriett Jones, but he may not really be their son. He may be a nephew, the son of Nathaniel Gregory.
The evidence for him being a son of Nathaniel is primarily his death certificate, which gives his father’s name as Nathan, and his mother as unknown. (See below.)
There are problems with that attribution, though.
On the other hand, John Jameson Gregory also had a son named John B. Gregory, born about 1878, by his second wife Emeline Nealis. So either way, no matter which one was his father, there is a half brother who carried the same name.
What is clear, though, is that in terms of family dynamics, he was a member of the John Jameson Gregory and Kitty Harriett Jones family.
