Some family trees on Ancestry.com attach to him the death record for an Elisha Adkins who died 8 Jan 1911 in Pike Co., Ky, but that is a different Elisha Adkins. They are easily confused since they were both born about 1830, but they appear separately in the 1880 and 1900 censuses in their respective counties. The Pike Co. Elisha Adkins married Surena J. May.

Morgan County marriage register book 1 on LDS microfilm #839,918 records the marriage on April 15, 1852 of Elisha Akins and Susan Whitt, by P. Kendall, witnesses Moses Whitt and Martin Whitt.

The place of birth for all the children of this family is often given as Elliott County on documents such as their marriage records or those of their children, but Elliott County was not formed until the summer of 1869. So only William and the younger children were really born in Elliott County.

Their daughter Catherine and son Jason Brackston were in my database because they or a child married into the “allied family” of Harvey Trent and Rena Lambert. And their daughter Eliza Jane was in my database because she married David Allen Black, a stepson of my GGG Grandmother Martha Ann Riddle Clark Black. 1900 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Devils Fork precinct, enumerated 15 June, lists on p. 8B as family #146:
Adkins, Elisha, 69, b. Jan 1831, farming; Amanda S., 61, b. Jan 1839; Austin, Evie, granddau, 15, b. Apr 1885. All born Ky Ky Ky.

Evie is the daughter of their daughter Catherine.
