Her obituary in the Morehead News reported:
“MOREHEAD - Phyllis Ann Alfrey, age 76, of West Main Street, Morehead, passed away Friday, July 28, 2006, at her residence. Born October 28, 1929, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Chester Vernon and Chloe Amburgey Alfrey. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Austin Alfrey; two sisters, Virginia Kellner and Nell Marie Alfrey Phillips; and one son, Joel Glover.
She is survived by one sister, Opal Barker, of Crestline, Ohio; two nieces, JoNell Kirk of Nicholasville and Pam Janov of Morehead; one nephew, Ron Barker of Tennessee; several great and great-great nieces and nephews; and her dear lifelong friend, Geraldine (Jerry) Crosthwaite.
A graduate of Breckinridge Training School and Morehead State University, Phyllis was a teacher at the Haldeman School from 1968 until her retirement in 1990.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Dr. Jack Ellis and Eddie White officiating; burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie Messer, Ricky Messer, Harvey Pennington, Todd Scobee, Phil Tackett, and Eddie White.”
