Her death certificate records Louisa Templeman, age 87 years 10 months 14 days, born 22 May 1849 in country, died 10 Mar 1936 in Elliottsville, Rowan Co., Ky, widow of T. W. Templeman, father Fowler Nickell, mother’s maiden name Nancy Brown, both born in Ky, cause of death cancer, informant Amanda Gambert (sp?), Morehead Crix Ky, burial in Parker Cem.

(The form asks “BIRTHPLACE (city or town) ... (state or country)”, and the person filling it out seems to have interpreted it as an either/or question.)

Note that the reported age at death is inconsistent with the reported birthdate; it would imply 26 Apr 1848. Her gravestone has years only, 1851 - 1936. She was recorded as age 5 in the 1860 census, and not listed in 1850. Considering the one day difference between May 21 and May 22, she is very likely to be the daughter born on 21 May 1854, which would make her 6 in 1850.

Parker, John, 41, farmer, married in May; Louisa, 16, married in May; Cornelius, 13; William, 10; Samuel, 7. All born in Kentucky.

1880 census of Rowan Co., Christy Creek precinct, enumerated June 1, lists on p. 50 as family #348/373:
Parker, John T., 48, farmer, b. Ky NC Va; Louisa, 28, wife; Cornelius, 28, son; William L., 20, son; Samuel, 17, son; Oliver B., 3, son; Amandy E., 1, dau; Nickell, Nancy J., 53, boarder, divorced; Nickell, Samuel, 17, servant. All except John born Ky Ky Ky.

Nancy Nickell is Louisa’s mother, and Samuel Nickell her brother, so the relationships should have been listed as mother-in-law and brother-in-law.
