Smedley, Jack, day laborer, 30, b. Oct 1869; Fairline, wife, 40, b. Apr 1860; married 6 years, mother of 4 children, 3 living; James W., son, 23, b. Mar 1877; Sarah, dau, 19, b. Jan 1881; Emmily, dau, 17, b. Mar 1883.
Although the young people are listed as Smedleys, Jack is not their father. James W. and Sarah are children of Farlina and her first husband, Frank Gregory. Emily is a daughter of Farlina and her second husband, James Ferrand.
Jack’s birthdate is probably incorrect in this census. He was listed as 2 in 1870 and 11 in 1880.
