His reported birth date varied considerably. He was recorded in the 1900 census as age 16, born April 1884, on his WW I draft card as born 5 Dec 1880, and in his obituary as born 14 Feb 1880. His gravestone, a double one with Margaret, gives only the years 1880-1962.
His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records Charles Adkins, age 37, born 5 Dec 1880, farmer, self-employed,
The Kentucky death index lists Charles Adkins, age 82, residence Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, died 3 Dec 1962 in Fayette Co., nearest relative Maggie Adkins, same address.
His obituary in the Morehead News reported:
“Chas. Adkins Is Claimed At Age 82 - Death came Monday to an 82 year old native Kentuckian, Charles Adkins.
Mr. Adkins was born in Morgan County Feb. 14, 1880, son of the late Mack and Elizabeth (Fultz) Adkins.
He leaves his wife, the former Margaret Louise Cox, and the following four sons and two daughters: Eddie Adkins, Logan, W.Va.; Atley Adkins, RFD 2; Asa Adkins, Port Huron, Mich.; Clayton Adkins, Morehead; Mrs. Elizabeth Hanes, RFD 4; and Mrs. Ivory Nae (sic) Ginter, Clearfield.
Other immediate survivors are three brothers and two sisters: Boone Adkins, Mich.; Roscoe Adkins and Estill Adkins, Wis.; Mrs. Goldie Whitt, Farmers; and Mrs. Viola Davis, Sandy Hook.
There are 24 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Arkins (sic), widely known throughout this area of Kentucky, was a member of the Church of God for 48 years.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at Clearfield Church of God Tabernacle by Reverends Benny Baldridge and John Henry Williams.
Interment was in Brown Cemetery. Lane Funeral Home cared for arrangements.”

Her gravestone says Margaret R. Adkins, 1888-1969, but the Kentucky death index lists Margret L. Adkins, age 79, died 11 Dec 1969 in Rowan Co., residence same (which would imply a birth date in 1890.)

The son Eddie should be a daughter Ettie.
