Morgan County death records for 1853 contain entries for two Conn infants which appear to be confused. The first is for a Cynthania Conn, age 1 month, died 26 July 1853, sex listed as male, with parents listed as John G. and Lucy S. Day, no cause of death. The second is for an unnamed male Conn, died 30 Dec 1853 at age one day, parents listed as John and Rachel Conn.
Besides the incongruity of a male infant named Cynthania Conn born to parents named Day, these death records also do not fit with birth records, which list a daughter Cyntha Ann Conn born 15 Oct 1853 to John and Rachel M. Conn, and a son named William S. Day born May 9 1853 to James G. Day and Lucy Saline Black. Cyntha can hardly have died 3 months before she was born, and John and Rachel could not have two children born 3 months apart. What seems likely is that William S. Day died July 26 at age 1 month, and Cyntha Ann Conn died 30 Dec at age 2 months, and the columns in the death register got mixed up.
