Her obituary in the Mansfield News-Journal of July 24, 1976 reported:
“SHELBY - Mrs. Carrie Alice McKenzie, 92, formerly of 12 1/2 High School Ave., died in the Crestwood Care Center Friday afternoon following a long illness.
Mrs. McKenzie was born in Moorhead, Ky., and had lived here for 25 years, coming from Middletown. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lottie Swaney of Shelby and Mrs. Roy (Gertrude) Charles, Middletown; four sons, Lonzie of Shelby and Lacy, Acy and Lester McKenzie, all of Middletown, two step-sons, Van McKenzie of Shelby and Hazle McKenzie, Ashville, N.C., 37 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted in Dye-Finefrock’s, Monday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Ronald Wells, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.”
