His death certificate states John Richard Lyons, age 70, born 25 Aug 1860 in Menoffee Co. (although really Menifee was not formed until 1869), died 3 April 1931 in Mt. Sterling, Montgomery Co., Ky, married, wife Mrs. Mary E. Lyons, father T. J. Lyons, mother’s maiden name Hester Wells, both born Ky, cause of death pulmonary tuberculosis, informant W. A. Wells, Mt. Sterling, Ky, burial in private graveyard.

(W. A. Wells was his son-in-law, the husband of his daughter Mary Ida.)

John and Mary were second cousins.

1900 census of Menifee Co., Ky, district 2, enumerated 21 June, lists on p. 17 as family #260:
