In 1880 he was listed in Frenchburg, Menifee Co., Ky, as age 87, uncle, in a family headed by a widowed Mary Trimbell, age 52.

1850 census of Bath Co., Ky, division 2, enumerated 3 Sep, lists on p. 91 as family #616:
John Frisby, 50, farmer; Mary, 50; Ellen, 19; Elizabeth, 18; Martin, 12; George W., 10; Francis M. (male); Mary, 9; William, 6. All born in Kentucky.
This is the only record that shows John’s wife as Mary. Possibly the census taker misheard “Sarrie”. It would not be a previous wife, since the marriage to Sarah Day is recorded in 1813 in Floyd Co. marriage records.
1860 census of Bath Co., Ky, enumerated 9 June, lists on p. 27 as family #198:
John Frisby, 66, farm hand, b. Va; Sarah, 65, b. Ky; Martha, 45; Martin, 24, farm hand; Frances (fem), 22; Mary, 21. All except John born in Kentucky.
