The year of birth is probably off by one. He was recorded as age 2 in 1870, age 12 in 1880, and age 22 born Feb 1868 in 1900.

In 1880 and 1900 she is recorded as Catherine M., but the 1910 census and her death certificate and gravestone flip the order of her two given names.

Unless David was absent from the household in 1870 for some reason other than death, Catherine may really have a different father.
