The Kentucky death index lists John W. Roberts, age 85, died 23 May 1956 in Montgomery Co., residence Bath Co.
His gravestone records his birthdate as 16 June 1870.
The 1900 census also says that he was born in June 1870, but the 1870 census, enumerated in June, lists his age as 1 month with the notation that he was born in May.

Rowan Co. marriage register A, p. 45, records the marriage of John W. Roberts and Lulie Markwell on 15 Jan 1892.
The marriage is also partially recorded in Rowan Co marriage license/bond book 1, p. 121, dated Jan 15, 1892, groom John W. Roberts, age 22, residence Bluestone. This entry is unusual in that the only thing filled in is the first 4 lines of the license application - date, groom, residence, age - with no bond, no return, and no mention of bride, and it is not in date order, the surrounding records being for Feb 1887. It is as if someone started to make an entry in the wrong book, then noticed.
