The Kentucky death index lists John W. Roberts, age 85, died 23 May 1956 in Montgomery Co., residence Bath Co.
His gravestone records his birthdate as 16 June 1870.
The 1900 census also says that he was born in June 1870, but the 1870 census, enumerated in June, lists his age as 1 month with the notation that he was born in May.

Notes for Elizabeth “Lizzie” J. Royse
Dates of birth and death are from her gravestone, a double one with John. It records her name as Lizzie R. Roberts, the middle initial apparently standing for Royse. I cannot find a death record for her in Kentucky, West Virginia or Ohio.

1910 census of Bath Co., Ky, district 4, enumerated 4 May, lists on p. 18B as family #387/407:
Roberts, John, 40, 2nd marriage; Lizzie, wife, 33, first marriage, married 13 years, mother of 5 children, 4 living; Hobart, son, 12; Oatie, dau, 7; Martin, son, 4; Ola, dau, 11/12; Ada, dau, 16. All born Ky Ky Ky.
Ada is apparently listed out of birth order due to being a child of John’s previous wife. Unless I have misidentified which John Roberts married Lillie Alfrey, this was really his third marriage. But he was married to Lillie for less than three years, and had no children by her, at least none that lived to 1900.
The preceding household is that of Ed Myers and his wife Addie, John’s sister, with his widowed mother Amanda living with them.
