This is not intended to be a complete family group. I am entering them only to record the parents of their daughter Rosa, and she in turn is entered only to help document that the Rosa Daugherty who died in 1919 in Pendleton Co. is not the same person as the Rosetta (with the same years of birth - at least as recorded on their death certificates - and death) who was the wife of Alexander H. Daugherty.
Census
1860 census of Pendleton Co., Ky, Gardnersville P.O., enumerated 6 July, lists on p. 119 as family #803/802:
James Bowing, 40, farmer; Nancy J., 30; Ruth A., 14; Lucy J., 12; Rosy K., 9; James F., 6; William T., 2. All born in Ky.
The next two households are headed by Willis Middleton age 32 and Isaac Middleton age 34, probably Nancy’s brothers, and the one after that is the family of Joseph and Priscilla Daugherty, both age 44, with their children including son John James Daugherty who would later marry Rosa Bowen.
1900 census of Pendleton Co., Ky, Grassy Creek precinct, enumerated 15 June, lists on p. 9B as family #180:
Daugherty, Rosa, 46, farmer, widowed, b. July 1853, Ky Va Ky; Bowen, James, father, 77, b. Dec 1822, farmer; Jane, mother, 67, b. Oct 1833, married 52 years, mother of 7 children, 6 living.
