In the 1880 census she was listed in the household of Joshua Steagall, widowed, age 43, as Mary Clyne, 40, sister-in-law, b. Va Va Va, keeps house.

Her daughters were listed two households above as Arizona Clyne age 5 and Cora Clyne age 3, both born Ky Ky Ky (although it should have been Ky Va Va), as paupers, with the family of James R. Barnett age 50 and wife Elva age 40.
