His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records Andy J. Ramey, age 43, residence Freestone, Rowan Co., Ky, born 19 July 1875, occupation farmer, self employed, nearest relative wife Mrs. Nettie Ramey, same address.

His death certificate records Andy Ramey, age 76 years 6 months 14 days, born 19 July 1875 in Ky, died 3 Feb 1952 in Farmers, Rowan Co., Ky, married, father Wm Ramey, mother’s maiden name Plaumandy McKenzie, cause of death chronic myocarditis, informant Bud Ramey, burial in Siloam Cemetery.

Her gravestone, next to Andy’s, gives her dates as 1883 - 1951, but I can find no record of her death in Kentucky, and his death certificate (in 1952) listed him as married, not widowed. So the stone may have been placed a number of years after their deaths, and the date for Nettie entered incorrectly. Another possibility is that she died out of state, and Andy remarried very shortly before he died.

It would be good to look for an obituary for Andy, whose date of death is known, and see if it mentions Nettie as surviving or predeceased.

She is listed twice in the 1900 census, once with her parents as age 20, born Mar 1880, and once with her husband, listed as age 16, born Sep 1883. Her parents were, however, not married until at least 1881, and all the dates for the family in that census are too early by several years, and bear no relationship to the months of birth that appear in other records such as draft registrations or birth and death records. So I suspect it may be one of the families where the enumerator made up dates in order to avoid a visit.3

I cannot find a marriage record for them in Rowan Co.; they may have been married in Fleming or Morgan.

The preceding household is headed by Andy’s brother Lewis Henry, and the following one by his brother Ulysses Grant, both recorded under their middle names.
