His gravestone says A. Jackson McClurg, 1863 - 1941.

His death certificate records Andy Jackson McClurg, age 78, born 1863 in Rowan Co., Ky, died 14 Oct 1941 in Farmers precinct, Rowan Co., Ky, farmer, widowed, parents unknown, cause of death pneumonia, informant Wm McClurg, Farmers, Ky, burial in Salome.

The 1863 birthdate is probably a year too late, since his father was mustered in to the Civil War in Jan 1862, and it is unlikely he was able to return home before he died at Vicksburg. Judging by the variability in the census records, the family kept very loose track of dates.

1870 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 4 July, lists on p. 7 as family #42:
Markwell, Aaron, 27, farmer; Susanna, 29; Rosella, 4; Joel, 8/12, b. Aug; McClurg, Jackson, 6. All born in Ky.

I cannot find Jackson in the 1880 census.

Rowan Co. birth records, on LDS microfilm #216839, list Zerilda Byram, b. 18 June 1858, daughter of Abr Byram Jr & Elizabeth Hall, place of birth North Fork of Triplett. (These records were made by the county clerk by copying records submitted by doctors and midwives, and the clerk may have misread "Alex" as "Abr".)

Her death certificate records Rilda McClurg, age about 70, born about 1859 in Rowan Co., Ky, died 22 Jan 1929 in Rowan Co., Ky, married, wife of Jack McClurg, father Wesley Byran, mother’s maiden name Lizzie Hall, both born in Ky, cause of death lobar pneumonia involving both lunds, informant Dr. C. T. Jones. (notation “this information was given me by various members of her family”), burial in Silome Cemetery.

1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 13 June, lists on p. 11B as family #291:
McClurg, Jack, 50, b. Apr 1850, farmer; Rilda, wife, 45, b. May 1855, married 21 years, mother of 8 children, 8 living; Nettie, dau, 20, b. March 1880; Charles (? looks like Chub or Chule), 18, b. Feb 1882; John, son, 16, b. Apr 1884; Della, dau, 14, b. May 1886; Andy, son, 12, b. Apr 1888; Roy, son, 9, b. Mar 1891; Luther, son, 6, b. May 1894; Burt, son, 4, b. Feb 1896. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The number of years married is likely to be incorrect, since Zerilda was listed with her mother and stepfather as single in the 1880 census, taken in June. Most of these dates are 4 to 14 years early compared with later census records.3 (Too bad the 1890 census did not survive. It might not be more accurate, but at least it could provide a cutoff between those children born before and after 1890.)

1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Farmers precinct, enumerated 25 April, lists on p. 10B as family #177/183:
McClurg, Jackson, 52, farmer; Zerilda, wife, 54, first marriage for both, married 27 years, mother of 9 children, 7 living; Andrew M., son, 18; Roy, son, 15; Luther, son, 14. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Farmers precinct, enumerated 9 Jan, lists on p. 4A as family #64:

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pine Grove precinct, enumerated 18 April, lists on p. 9A as households #142/160 & 161 (i.e., same dwelling but different family numbers each as head of household):
