His single stone in Carey Cemetery has the dates Apr 20, 1839 - Feb 14, 1910, and the additional inscription “Age 71 yrs 9 mos 24 days”. There is no stone for his wife, although her death certificate says she is buried in the same cemetery.
His birthdate is probably really later than 1839, since he was listed as age 6 in 1850 and age 17 in 1860.

Rowan Co., Ky birth records list a daughter (name not recorded) born on 16 Sep 1859 to Z. R. Phelps and Martha Kissick, both parents born in Fleming Co., Ky.
Her death certificate records Mrs. Mote Ingram, age 64 years 4 months, born 16 Sep 1859 in Rowan Co., died 15 Jan 1924 in Farmers, Rowan Co., Ky, widow, father Lit Phelps, mother’s maiden name Pattsy Kissi, both born in Ky, cause of death valvular heart disease, informant Frank Ingram, Farmers, Ky, burial in Ceary’s.
Although the father’s given name does not match and the mother’s maiden name is mispelled, the likelihood that there were two Ingram daughters born on 16 Sep 1859 in Rowan Co. with mothers named Martha/Patsy Kissi*, one of whose birth was not recorded, is extremely slim. (Z. T. Phelps had a brother named David Littleton Phelps, born ca 1824, but he was listed as single in the 1860 census, and in the 1870 census with a wife named Aletha and no children over 4.)
