He was listed in the 1870 census as Edward age 2, in the 1880 census as Ebenezer age 12, and in the 1900 census as Edward L. age 29 born Sep 1870.

1910 census of Carter Co., Ky, Olive Hill precinct, enumerated 18 April, lists on p. 3A as family #51/56:
Teal, Edward L., 36, produce salesman; Bessie M., wife, 20, first marriage for both, married 3 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Willard B., son, 2; Henry J., son, 3/12.

Although it is reported as a first marriage for both, it was really the second for Edward.
