So far as I can tell there is no relationship between David Martin Cox and my Cox/Cock ancestors, but since I do have Cox relatives in Morgan Co., I want to keep track of him and his Cox descendants who are in the Morgan/Rowan Co. area to help me keep straight which Cox families in that part of Kentucky are my relatives and which aren’t.

Her death certificate records Mary Jane Cox, age 45, birthdate blank, born in Lawrence Co., Ky, died 3 May 1912 in Morgan Co., Ky, married, father David Lester, mother’s maiden name Miss Skaggs, both born in Lawrence Co., Ky, cause of death obstruction of bowels, informant and burial place blank.

1900 census of Morgan Co., Ky, precinct 5, enumerated in June (date not recorded), lists on p. 12B as family #188:
Cox, Martain, 42, b. May 1858, Va Va Va; Mary, wife, 32, b. Nov 1867, Ky Ky Ky, married 14 years, mother of 6 children, 5 living; Henry, son, 20, b. Dec 1879; John D., son, 13, b. Sep 1886; Sarah M., dau, 10, b. Oct 1889; Della F., dau, 6, b. Feb 1894; Linea C., dau, 4, b. Oct 1855; Ribeca A., dau, 1, b. July 1898; William H., father, 70, b. June 1829, Va N.C. not known. All children born Ky Va Ky.

1910 census of Morgan Co., Ky, Paint precinct, enumerated 3 May, lists on p. 12A as family #157/173:
Cox, David M., 52, dry goods merchant; Mary Jane, wife, 42, married 24 years, mother of 7 children, 6 living; Lena C., dau, 14; Rebecca A., dau, 11; Charley H., son, 8. All listed as born Ky Ky Ky, although it is incorrect for David.
