Her death certificate records Ellin Alfery, age about 77, birthdate unknown, died 22 July 1913 in Rowan Co., Ky, widowed, father Wm Soapshire, born in Ky, mother field blank, cause of death tuberculosis of the bowels, informant C. C. Alfrey, Cogswell, Ky, burial in Alfrey Cemetery.

The following was entered as a comment on 5 April 2010 in a family tree on Ancestry.com compiled by Deborah McKay:
“Eliza Belle Myers was my g grandmother and I'm sure of the following: She was the daughter of Isaac Myers; not his spouse. Her mother was Ellen Shropshire. Ellen & Isaac were never married and he was killed (or, more specifically, I think, died of Civil War disease) in the Civil War. Belle was Isaac's only child. Ellen later married John Alfrey and had a bunch of kids by him. Apparently, Ellen tried to change Belle's last name to "Alfrey" (1870 census) but as soon as she was able (1880 census and family info), she always insisted that her maiden name was Myers. Very interesting lady & definitely spunky ... Lots of interesting info about them in his Civil War pension file ... Hope this helps ... Betty Jean Hall (bettyjeanhall@aol.com)”
