His death certificate records William Frank Sorrell, age 74 years 8 months 18 days, born 25 June 1875 in Menifee Co., Ky, died 13 Mar 1950 in rural Scranton, Menifee Co., Ky, married, farm owner, father Josh Sorrell, mother’s maiden name Millie Grayson, informant blank, burial in Staton Cemetery, Scranton, Ky. The cause of death statement is unusually lengthy and somewhat defensive: “This man suddenly took sick and died within an hour or two. I was sent for but was out on a call and did not learn of it until the next morning. No other medical personnel was called and the patient it was said died almost immediately apparently acute myocardial failure. D. L. Graves, M.D.”

The birthdate cannot be correct. He was listed in the censuses as age 1 in 1870, age 11 in 1880, age 29 born July 1870 in 1900, age 36 in 1910, age 45 in 1920, and age 56 in 1930. Also, the birth of his sister Sarah was recorded in Wolfe Co. on 7 July 1875.

The birth place is probably wrong, too. The family was in Wolfe Co. in both the 1870 and 1880 censuses, and does not appear to have moved to Menifee coutny until after 1880.

His gravestone says Frank Sorrell, 1874 - 1950.

Since Frank was recorded as widowed in the 1910 census, with a one month old son, it is probable that Clara died in childbed.

1910 census of Menifee Co., Ky, Beaver precinct, enumerated 25 April, lists on p. 8B as family #111/116:
Sorrell, Frank, 36, widowed, farmer; Dora, dau, 15; Russel, son, 11; Chester, son, 9; Esther, dau, 7; Loue, dau, 5; Bania, dau, 3; Stella, dau, 1/2; Kella, son, 1/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The next household is that of his parents.
