His death certificate records George Washington Riddle, age 89 years 7 months 15 days, born 4 Aug 1859 in Morgan Co., Kentucky, died 19 April 1949 in Linn Co., Missouri, single (obviously this is wrong, but it is what it says), father Louis Riddle, mother’s maiden name Sarah Clark, wife Susan Riddle, cause of death general arterosclerosis, informant Mrs. Lytha Conrad, Hamilton, Mo, burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Marceline, Mo.

I can find no single Mary or Mollie Colyer born in Iowa of approximately the right age in the 1875 state Iowa census or the 1870 or 1880 federal censuses, suggesting that the marriage to U. W. Burrus may not have been her first marriage.

Their marriage license records the marriage on 26 June 1909 in Marceline, Linn Co., Missouri of George W. Riddle, over 21, to Mollie Burrus, over 18, both residents of Marceline, by Thos. A. Smedley, J.P.
Burrus is the name of her previous husband, Ulysses W. Burrus.

Mo Ky Ky; Lafe C., son, 14; Ella A., dau, 11; Jay C., son, 9; Colyer, Samuel T., boarder, 49, divorced, b. Mo Tenn Va. The youngest three children born Mo Ky Mo.
Samuel is probably some relationship to Mollie, but notice that the parental birthplaces are different.

Riddle, George, 60, b. Ky Ky Ky, no occupation; Mollie, wife, 53, b. Iowa Tenn N.C., sexton of cemetery; Jay, son, 20, b. Missouri Ky Iowa.
(The mother’s birthplace for Jay is wrong, since his mother was Elizabeth Hoover, not Mollie.)
