The only reason I traced this couple forward a bit was trying to find out where in California her sister Carrie was born, hoping it might be somewhere in a record associated with Ada, with no success.

1900 census of Linn Co., Missouri, Jefferson township, enumerated 9 June, lists on p. 4A as family #68:
Canterbury, William, 30, b. May 1870, Iowa Iowa Missouri; Ada, wife, 23, b. Apr 1877, California Indiana Indiana, married 5 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Joseph, son, 4, b. Dec 1895; Ray, son, 2, b. April 1898. Both sons born Missouri Iowa California.
In 1910 they were in Ellis Co., Oklahoma, in 1920 in Hempstead Co., Arkansas, and in 1930 in Buchanan Co., Missouri. I am not entering those census records because my only interest was in trying to find out where in Californa Ada was born (since her sister Carrie Susan was also born in California), and the later censuses aren’t going to tell me that.
