Notes for John Linville & Ida Belle (Family)
Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 5, p. 223, records the marriage of John L. Martin, age 23, first marriage, farmer, residence Morehead, born in and mother born in Rowan Co., father born in Floyd Co., to Ida B. Click (name on license), age 23, her second marriage, residence Morehead, born in and both parents born in Elliott Co., at J. R. Lyttle’s by E. H. Durham, witnesses W. B. Elliott and W. A. Johnson.
Ida’s surname on the return is given as Clark. If this is not just a clerical error, then it may be the surname of her first husband. Her first marriage was probably in Elliott Co., as there is no prior marriage for her recorded in Rowan.
Census
In 1910 John and Ida were listed separately, only two households apart, but both as married:
1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 15 April, lists on p. 1B as family #19:
Martin, J. L., 26, house painter, married; Artis P., dau, 4; Anna L., dau, 8; Johnie, nephew, 15; Rufus, nephew, 13; Strosie B., niece, 10. All born Ky Ky Ky.
Johnie, Rufus and Strosie are children of Ida’s sister Motie and Oscar V. Christian. They should be listed under the surname Christian.
1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 15 April, lists on p. 1A as family #17:
Crisp, William, 29, single, house painter; Click, Jennie, mother, 52, second marriage, married 3 years, mother of 3 children; Martin, Ida, sister, 32, first marriage, married 5 years, mother of 1 child; Florence, niece, 7; Pearl, niece, 4; Anna, niece, 4/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.
If the number of children count for Ida is correct, then it is unclear who the three Martin children belong to.
