Floyd Co. birth report to the Kentucky state auditor for 1859 lists the birth of Alexander Bradley on 21 Oct 1859, father Elias Bradley, mother’s maiden name Luanna Prater.
His death certificate records Elick Bradley, age 77 years 10 months 4 days, born 12 Feb 1857 in Kentucky, died 16 Dec 1934 in Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, married, husband of Lue Bradley, father Elicha Bradley, mother’s maiden name Luna Prator, both born in Ky, cause of death nephritis, informant Lue Bradley, Morehead, Ky, burial in Bradley Cemetery.
His gravestone (Bradley Cemetery is currently known as Clearfield Cemetery) has the birthdate 2 March 1858, and spells his given name as Alex.
So there are three birthdates to choose from, all in different months! I am entering the one from the birth report.
According to the “previous marriage” counts on his marriages recorded in Rowan Co., Aleck married five times, but his third and fifth marriages were both to Lou Crosthwait.

I do not know her maiden name. Right now my money is laying on Mary Patton, born 21 Aug 1856 in Floyd Co., daughter of David Patton and Nancy Banks.

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 3, p. 466, records the marriage on 8 April 1900, of Alex Bradley, age 36 (it should really be 40), 3rd marriage, residence Morehead, born in and mother born in Floyd Co., Ky, father born in Virgina, to Mary Watkins, age 41, 2nd marriage, born in and both parents born in Floyd Co., Ky, at Rodbourn in the county road by W. F. Wheatley, witnesses J. A. Justice and John Earls.
Alex’s previous marriage, the first to Lou Crosthwaite, was also recorded as his third, so this was probably really his fourth.

1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, enumerated 2 June, lists on p. 1B as family #11:
Bradley, Alex, 40, b. Oct 1859, number of years married 19, b. Ky Va Ky, farmer; Mary, wife, 43, b. Aug 1856, Ky Ky Ky, number of years married 26, mother of 4 children, 4 living; Watkins, Ida M., stepdau, 18, b. Aug 1881; Sadie L., stepdau, 12, b. Apr 1887/8 (overwritten).
Alex and Mary had really only been married 2 months at the time this census was taken. They have apparently both misinterpreted the number of years married field as indicating either the number of years since their respective first marriages, or the total number of years spent in a married state. Assuming the former, this would suggest Alex’s first marriage was about 1881 and Mary’s was about 1874.
