Census Notes for John Calvin & Hannah H. (Family)
1870 census of Morgan Co., Ky, West Liberty P.O., enumerated 18 June, lists on p. 16 as family #102:
Fannin, John, 28; Thomas, 5; Lodusky, 3; Frances (f), 11/12. Dyer, Margaret, 45; Louisa, 14; Frances (f), 5; Hannah, 54. All born in Kentucky.
“Hannah Dyer” is probably John’s mother, and should therefore be listed as Fannin. It is possible, though, that the age was recorded wrong, and that this is really Margaret’s daughter Hannah, who would have been 25. (If not, I do not know where John’s wife was in this census year.)
1880 census of Morgan Co., Ky, West Liberty precinct, enumerated 9 June, lists on p. 19 as family #163:
Fannin, John C., 38, farmer; Hanah, 35, wife; Thomas, 15, son; Lodeska, 15, dau; Marry, 10, dau; Idora, 8, dau; Marion, 7, son; Elender, 5, dau; Jane, 3, dau; Hopkins, 1, son; Hanah, 68, mother, widowed; Daniel F., 15, son. All born in Kentucky. (This census taker simply put Kentucky on the first line of the page in the birthplace field, and made a wiggly line down that column for the whole page, and left the parent birthplace columns totally blank.)
