Census records are more consistent with a birthdate in Oct 1868. Also, census records are consistent that Jeremiah’s second wife Ellender was born in Virginia. Probably the informant has mistaken Thomas’s wife’s birthplace with his mother’s.

Sinda Easterling is the daughter of Thomas’s father’s sister Francina Elam who married Henry Easterling.
