1860 census of Carter Co., Ky, Bruin P.O., enumerated 18 Aug, lists on p. 186 as family #1334/1222:
Roter Rose, 47, farmer, b. N.C.; Hannah, 23; Jesse, 18; Robert, 17; William W., 15; Lucinda, 12; Elizabeth, 10; Cyntha A., 8. All except “Roter” born in Kentucky.
The preceding household is headed by Robert’s son John P. Rose.
(I’m putting this in Robert’s notes instead of the family notes because all the children are from his first marriage, to Sarah Perry.)

Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 13 Oct 1836 of Robert Rose and Sarah Perry by Thomas Nickell.
The first two children in this family, Henderson and Mary Jane, were born before Robert and Sarah were married. Most likely they were born out of wedlock with a different father, since Sarah used her maiden name on the marriage license. Henderson’s death certificate has the father field blank, and Mary Jane’s records her father as W. G. Rice. If they were known to be Robert’s children, he would probably have been listed as the father, since he outlived Sarah. But they were both raised as Roses, so I am linking them into this family.
