His death certificate records Asa Purvis, age 89 years 7 months, born 20 Nov 1826 in Ky, died 20 Mar 1915 in Forge Hill, Bath Co., Ky, widower, father Sam Purvis, born in Ky, mother’s maiden name Nancy Rutherford, born in Indiana, cause of death “coroners jury verdict result of old age & fall on back of head hitting wall with head in his room”, informant Joe Purvis, Salt Lick, burial in Purvis g yard.

The reported birthdate is inconsistent with census records, which suggest a birthdate in the range 1831 to 1833.

I cannot find a death or cemetery record for her, but she was listed in the 1910 census, and in 1915 Asa’s marital status was recorded on his death certifcate as widowed, so she must have died in the interim.

Bath Co., Ky marriage book 3 records the marriage on 1 Feb 1855 of Asa C. Purvis and Mary Otis.

I cannot find this family in the 1860 census.
