His death certificate records Wm Patton Dean, age 61 years 8 months 1 day, born 20 Aug 1855 in Ky, died 21 April 1916 in Cedar Grove precinct, Carter Co., Ky, married, farmer, father Jas Dean, mother’s maiden name Manda Fields, both born in Ky, cause of death suicide by hanging with a rope, informant Harve Dean, Enterprise, Ky.
Since he was listed as age 9 in 1860 and age 19 in 1870, he was probably really born in 1850 or 1851.

Notes for Mary Jane Hall
Her death certificate records Mary Jane Dean, age 70, born 1858 in Boyd Co., Ky, died 28 May 1928 in Rowan Co., Ky, widow of Patton Dean, father don’t know, mother’s maiden name Hilda Hall, birthplace don’t know, cause of death cancer of stomach, informant Bert Dean, Eadston, Ky, burial in Dean Cemetery.
Bert Dean is the son of Harve Dean and Zona Thomas, and was therefore Mary Jane’s grandson. He was also the informant on Harve’s death certificate, on which he listed Harve’s mother’s maiden name as Mary Hall. I have not been able to find any record of a Hilda Hall who would be a reasonable match in the counties where the Dean family lived.
Bert Dean is the son of Harve Dean and Zona Thomas, and was therefore Mary Jane’s grandson. Also in the same dwelling, with their own family number, are Charles Dean age 19 with wife Hannah.
The dates for Mary are problematic. For one think, 1862 plus 32 is 1894, not 1900. For another thing, someone age 32 cannot have been married 22 years. And finally, if this is the same wife who was married to Patton in 1880, she should be 42, which would be consistent with her death certificate.
