Morgan Co., Ky birth records list William James Easterling, born 13 Feb 1857, father Thomas Easterling, mother’s maiden name Nancy J. Elam.

His death certificate records William Easterling, age 79 years 1 month 2 days, born 4 Feb 1857 in Wayland, Floyd Co., Ky, married, father Thos Easterling, mother’s maiden name Jane Elam, both born in West Liberty, Ky, cause of death chronic nephritis, informant blank, burial in Helechama (?), Ky.

Her gravestone gives her dates as 1867 to 1942, but I cannot find a death record for her.

She is probably one of the following two Nancy Osborns, but I do not know which:

1870 census of Greenup Co., Ky, precinct 1, Greenupsburg P.O., enumerated 16 June, lists on p. 33 as family #243/237:
Osborn, John, 32, iron furnace keeper; Melvina, 25; Emily, 13; John W., 12; Nancy, 4; Lola A., 2; Samuel, 2/12. All born in Kentucky.

(From birth records for later children, Melvina’s maiden name was Antiss, and she often went by Linna.)

1870 census of Harlan Co., Ky, district 2, Mt. Pleasant P.O., enumerated 22 Aug, lists on p. 10 as family #70:
Osborn, Jonathan, 56, farmer; Mary, 45, wife; Mary A., 20; William, 19; Jane, 16; Sarah, 8; Nancy, 6. All born in Kentucky.

(From death records for some of their children, Mary’s maiden name was Shell and she often went by Polly.)

There was also a Caroline Osborn age 7 recorded in the 1870 census of Wolfe Co., daughter of William Osborn age 57 and wife Nancy age 45, but that Caroline was still single with her parents in the 1880 census, when this Nancy Caroline was already married. And there was a Nancy C. Osborn age 9 listed in the 1880 census of Elliott Co., Ky, daughter of William J. Osborn and Nancy S. Marshall, which several family trees have identified with this Nancy Caroline, but that Nancy would have been only 7 years old in 1878.

Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 15 Oct 1878 of William J. Easterling and Nancy C. Stacy, at H. M. Barker’s by W. L. Gevedon, witnesses H. M. Barker and Pierce Blair.

This is apparently a second marriage for Nancy, because the death records of their children give her maiden name as Osborn or Osborne.

I cannot find this family in the 1880 census.
