Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 15 Aug 1881 of Lewis L. Scaggs and Susan Ison, at Hamilton Ison’s by John D. Skaggs, witnesses Andrew Skaggs and Ambrose Ferguson.

Since Lewis and Susan married after 1880, and she died before 1900, they do not appear together in any census. All of their children except the youngest are recorded in Lawrence Co. with Lewis and his second wife Nancy Fyffe:

All of the children except Isaac are from Lewis’s first marriage, to Susan Ison. Lewis and Susan’s youngest daughter, Phoebe Susan, born one week before Susan’s death, is living in Morgan Co., Ky with Lewis’s sister Mary and her husband Isaac Ferguson, who raised her.
